Old Folk’s Home: The home that shouldn’t exist!!!

Old folks home could be best defined as heaven and hell combined under one roof. They have a place to spend their old ages but at the same time, the way of spending the old age is very frustrating and definitely, it’s not what they would wish for even in their dreams.
However the number of Old Folk’s Homes and Nursing Homes in Malaysia are increasing every year. In Selangor, there are nearly 21 old folk’s home. Among the reasons they are being sent to the Old Folk’s Home are such as family members do not have the time to care for them, as well as them being physically or mentally abused by family with no other place to live.
We keep saying that the technology have improved so much, however the courtesy to treat each of our family members well is still the same and even fading. Money has become the center of attention to all range of people rather than intellectual decorum, valuable time with our parents, showing care and giving support to family. Did our parent who survived from World War 2 pressure, the economic crisis, and even managed to feed our infinite demand only to see themselves at Old Folk’s home?
As a conclusion, it shows that we have yet to develop mentally as we have yet to grasp even the basics in life. A complete family tree must consist of grandparents, parents and children. For kids who sent their parents to Old Folk’s Home, have you ever thought where you are going to end up in your old age? Remember, What goes around comes around…And what goes up must come down!!!!
