The root of the Rohingyas dilemma
In the previous post, the vast humanitarian and human rights issues surfacing in countries like Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia was highlighted. The Rohingya boat people’s status as refugees are not recognised by these countries and they are treated as non existent with no laws to protect these people.
Perhaps the following two new videos from AlJazeera would further help our understanding of where and how this horrible human tragedy came about and the untold sufferings of all those who still remain behind.
“The construction of a barbed wire fence along Myanmar’s border with Bangladesh has only increased the suffering of the Muslim Rohingya minority.
Hundreds of thousands have fled to Bangladesh, wuth most of them living in makeshift camps, unrecognised, and unwanted.
In his second look at the plight of the Rohingyas Nicholas Haque reports from Teknaf, on the Bangladeshi border with Myanmar.”
