One of the topic we learned at the Citizen Journalism course is video editing. Video editing is the last subject and hence, all of us were supposed to have some basic knowledge in video filming, script writing and what goes behind the scenes in making short video clips.

So, all of us armed with whatever we can remember from the last few weeks lessons, started to work on our video project.

Maran gave us two video clips and three background music. When I first got the video clips, I was puzzled. Huh? Just people walking about? What’s the story, dude?

Then, we were told that we must create our own angle of story based on what are given to us plus whatever we want to add in.

It was a fun but tiring day when all my course mates got down to complete our assignments. I must say we have done quite well because inspite of our lack of experience in handling a totally new video editing softwares, we managed to come up with our 1 minute clip.

There were about 20+ of us and we produced stories from different angles. It is amazing how each of us can produce totally fresh ideas from just the two video clips. It proves that we are all actually quite creative but we never tested our abilities until Maran throw us into the deep end of the pool. Then, we began to swim!

After the course, I find my video rather corny and lame. It is a kind of ‘Michael Jackson or John Lennon’ style of wishful thinking of a perfect world. Corny or not, who cares…it was my best effort and considering that we were given only about 2-3 hours to complete, I must say it is worthy to be shown on Youtube. My video title is Malaysia – One Nation.
