This business of selective banning of media is something that I cannot be sure if I am against or support it. If I am the big boss, I think I will also ban certain media if they have been a pain in the arse towards me. That’s why I said journalism ethic is dead long time ago. The mainstream media is all lopsided and they only follow the money trial (something I learned in citizen journalism). Some of the mainstream media abused their power to give very unfair and biased news. Instead of journalism, it was more like character assassination and terrorism.
So, I read that several of the online media were banned by UMNO. Well, it is fine and cool. After all, UMNO is really worried the online media will cover the knives wielding acts and other dramas that could potentially cause them to lose votes in the next general election.
But when their leaders are preaching the opposite, it makes me go…’wtf, make up your mind already!’
Like it or not, Najib said: “We cannot regard the new media as our enemy.”
Speak the language of the cyber community
He called on the new generation of Umno leaders to be active participants in this important development.
“The younger generation of Umno members must be able to speak the language of the cyber community and be leaders in the utilisation of technology as an essential part of our political arsenal.
“Only then can we win in the battle of ideas and influence in the arena of politics,” he said.
Well, my dear honourable PM-in-waiting….are you keeping them out or are you taking them in? Who makes the decision to ban the online media from UMNO AGM? It is like burning bridges and then, you try to swim over and give them a kiss.
Anyway…I think one doesn’t need to fear the media unless they have something to hide.
