The Gabungan Persatuan Cina Petaling Jaya (Federation of Chinese Associations Petaling Jaya) and Selangor Petaling Business and Industry Association on December 31, 2014 donated food items to flood victims in the east coast of peninsular Malaysia.

The items were dropped off at Nanyang Siang Pau office in Petaling Jaya, one of the collection points for donations, and will be deployed to victims in the flood-hit east coast states.

“We are saddened by the floods in the east coast which caused massive destruction with thousands of people being displaced and taking shelter in relief centres.

“Right now, they need our help and we hope our small donations will go a long way in helping those affected by the floods,” said Gabungan Persatuan Cina Petaling Jaya deputy president Gan Keng.

The relief items included 50 cartons of drinking water, 20 cartons of apple, five cartons of Nestle Milo 3-in-1, biscuits, Maggi instant noodles, among others.

Selangor Petaling Business and Industry Association secretary Dato’ Yap Yit Leong hoped their donation items will help in the current relief efforts.

“These people are in dire need of relief and we are doing our bit to help alleviate the pains and sufferings of the flood victims,” said Yap who is also secretary for Gabungan Persatuan Cina Petaling Jaya.
