Sungai Pandaruan to get RM25mil bridge

Construction of a RM25-million bridge across Sungai Pandaruan which separates Limbang in Sarawak and Temburung in Brunei will start this year.

Construction of a RM25-million bridge across Sungai Pandaruan which separates Limbang in Sarawak and Temburung in Brunei will get underway this year, said Minister of Works Shaziman Mansor.

“There are just some technical issues to be finalised between Brunei and Malaysia,” he told reporters after visiting the site of the bridge on the Sarawak side on Monday.

Shaziman said the technical issues concerned the engineering and maintenance aspects and that both sides would be meeting further on it next week where the Brunei representatives would be shown models of Malaysia’s Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complexes.

Presently, the two sides are linked by a ferry service.

Shaziman also announced a RM20 million allocation for upgrading and maintenance of the Pan Borneo highway from Miri to Kota Kinabalu. “Stretches frequently hit by flash floods will be raised, sharp corners will be straightened and pot holes will be filled up,” he said.
