Filipina crowned Miss Tourism International 2017

Filipina Jannie Loudette Alipo-on, a 25-year-old model, host and businesswoman was crowned Miss Tourism International 2017 at the world finals held in Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, Petaling Jaya on 6 Dec 2017. She also bagged the Miss Gintell Wellness subsidiary title.

The 163 cm tall (5’ 4.17”) beauty from Navotas City shed tears of joy when her name was announced. She was crowned by last year’s winner Ariel Pearse of New Zealand.

She won the competition against 46 other candidates in the world pageant to gain the prestigious title and earned the RM10,000 cash prize, a scholarship worth RM60,000 by LimKokWing University of Creative Technology, a 3D2N stay family suite for 4 persons by Sunway Pyramid Hotel and other sponsored gifts.

Jannie is the fourth Filipina to be crowned Miss Tourism International. Past Philippine winners were Angeli Dione Gomez in 2013, Rizzini Alexis Gomez in 2012 and Maria Esperanza in 2000.

Four other winners were also announced. There were Maja Aleksandra Sieron of Poland (Miss Tourism Metropolitan 2017); Lois Merry Tangel of Indonesia (Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan 2017); Diana Hills of Australia (Miss Tourism Global 2017) and Julia Do Vale Horta of Brazil (Dream Girl of the Year 2017).

In addition to the 5 Top Winners, there was a special award – Miss South East Asia Tourism Ambassadress 2017 which went to Kamolrut Tanon of Indonesia. A total of 13 subsidiary titles were also awarded.

The finalists paraded in the national costumes and evening wear before the Top 10 finalists were selected to go through the Q&A round. There was no swim wear category. They also paraded in trendy fashion attire sponsored by LimKokWing Fashion Club, Emile Company collection by Emile Le Hong Nhung from Vietnam and Kraftangan Malaysia Batik collection.

The world final show highlights included cultural dance performance by Jabatan Kebudayaan & Kesenian Negara (JKKN) dancers and a special presentation of the Miss Malaysia Tourism pageant theme song “Because We Care” by six Miss Malaysia beauty queens.

The night ended with the cutting of an anniversary cake to mark the 20^th consecutive years of Miss Tourism International World Final held in Malaysia.
