PETALING JAYA – people from all ages, races and walks of life turned up for DUN Bukit Lanjan Chinese New Year Open House

DUN Bukit Lanjan Chinese New Year Open House draws large multi racial crowd.

Hundreds of people from all ages, races and walks of life turned up for DUN Bukit Lanjan Chinese New Year Open House held at Ativo Plaza, Bandar Sri Damansara in Petaling Jaya on 25 Feb 2018.

The event saw the multi racial crowd came together in a cheerful celebration of the festival.

In her speech, ADUN Bukit Lanjan state assemblywoman Elizabeth Wong, who is also Selangor executive council member in charge of tourism, consumer affairs, and environment, wished everyone a happy and prosperous Chinese New Year.

Subang MP Sivarasa Rasiah who was present said he was born in the monkey year, conveyed his well-wishes of Gong Xi Fa Cai to all Malaysians who celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Dog.

After their speeches, Wong and Sivarasa happily mingled with the crowd and posed for photos.

They distributed red ang pow packets to bring cheer to children and senior citizens.

Also present at the celebrations were Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) councillors including Suriase A/L Gengiah and Tang Fuie Koh.

Guests enjoyed the lion dance and dragon dance performances followed by a Chinese musical group playing Chinese new year songs and a Chinese yoyo performance.

Guests were also treated to a spread of local delicacies at the food booths set up. There were also other activities that included Chinese calligraphy and God of Prosperity walkabout.

The festive air was enlivened with the presence of the God of Prosperity with guests taking the opportunity to pose for photos in the hope of getting good luck and good fortune.
At the Chinese calligraphy booth, visitors get their favourite ‘Fu’ character or other Chinese lucky characters for good fortune, longevity, good luck, love and double happiness written by the master.
