Inaugural Golf Amal Muhibbah Vasakhi 2018 to be held in April and May

CHERAS – In promoting “Visit Malaysia 2020”,the Taiping Sikh Association is organizing two golf events in Perak and Johor respectively.

In promoting “Visit Malaysia 2020”, the Sri Guru Singh Sabha Taiping or better known as the Taiping Sikh Association is organizing two golf events in Perak and Johor respectively.

The two venues are Perak’s Swiss-Garden Golf Resort and Spa Damai Laut on April 28 and Johor’s Austin Height Golf and Hotel Resort on May 5. Both dates of the tournaments will be played after their Vasakhi Open House in Taiping. The Sikh holy day falls on Saturday 14 April this year.

Association President, Dato’ Balraaj Singh said: “This is the first time the Taiping Sikh Association is holding such an event and the objective of the golf tournament is to promote tourism and camaraderie among golfers and their families. We hope golfers will bring their families to visit these lovely golf resorts,” said Balraaj.

Damai Laut offers breathtaking views of the sea and lush greenery, the Ronald Fream designed layout is routed through a tropical landscape with nine holes overlooking the Straits of Malacca and the other nine the estuaries of the Dinding River.

“We are honored to be selected as the venue for the inaugural charity event. We have played host to many tournaments but this particular event is one that that resonates with our corporate philosophy of giving back to the underprivileged,” said Linda Evelyn Wong, the Director of Sales and Marketing, Swiss Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut.

While Austin Height is peaceful and isolated, you can occasionally glimpse greenery and the lakes with excitement offered from the shortest par 3 at 125 metres along this stretch of course. Designed by Nigel B. Douglas, the course has a fine mix of long and short holes with challenging greens.

“Welcome to the resort that is full of fun and entertainment. Some golf courses require a little ‘insider knowledge’ and Austin Heights Golf and Hotel Resort is one of those. And some golf courses play tougher the first time simply because you’re not familiar with the slopes, metres or the best angles for approaches and this is one of those. If this is your first time teeing it up at the Championship Club good course management will help significantly,” said Zulkifliee Jamari, course’s Assistant Golf and Sports Manager.

The Inaugural Golf Amal Muhibbah Vasakhi 2018 tournament will be played in a format called “System 36 Stableford Points” and will tee-off at 8.00am on a weekend followed by light breakfast and lunch followed by a prize-giving at 1.30pm onwards on both the dates.

“I wish to thank Asia Golfing Network for supporting us with the goodies and prizes and the both tournament venues for hosting us. We hope to make the event a great success and annually. Happy Vasakhi to Punjabis,” concluded Balraaj.

The association also operates a soup kitchen for the underprivileged in Taiping.
