Kelantan has fully recovered from the third wave of floods which hit the state last week with the last relief centre closed yesterday.

A spokesman of the Kelantan contingent police headquarters Flood Operations Room, said 3,579 flood victims evacuated to the relief centres in six districts since last week had returned home in stages.

“Until last night, the evacuees in Tumpat, which was the last area to be flooded, were sent home,” he told Bernama here today, adding that all roads were now accessible.

A check by Bernama found that many residents in Rantau Panjang and Tumpat have started to clean out the mud and dirt from their houses.

Several areas in the East Coast states were affected by floods since the end of 2010, including Kota Baharu, Bachok, Pasir Puteh, Tanah Merah, Tumpat and Pasir Mas in Kelantan.

The third wave of flooding in Kelantan had taken the lives of two children and a teenager since it started last week.
