Flood victims given water rebate

The Perlis government is slashing RM20 from the November water bill of people in the state as they had to use much water for cleaning their houses after the recent floods, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Md Isa Sabu said here.

The rebate, which would cost the state government RM1.3 million, would be enjoyed by all the 65,000 water consumers, he told reporters last night after a dinner in conjunction with an innovation programme of the Public Works Department.

“Those unaffected by the floods will also benefit from the rebate because they helped the flood evacuees,” he said.

More than 15,000 people were evacuated to 57 relief centres early this month after heavy rains brought the floods.
