A man was detained by the Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Ministry’s enforcement division in Putrajaya early today for investigation into a company believed to be running a get-rich quick scheme.
Its senior director, Shahrudin Hamzah, said the man, in his 30s, was detained following a raid carried out at the company’s premises in Taman Equine Park in Seri Kembangan at 10.30pm yesterday.
He said the raid was conducted following a public tip-off.
“Statements were recorded from 30 people at the premises. We also seized a few laptops and pamphlets on the scheme, which we believed, were to be distributed to the public,” he told reporters at the scene today.
He said the company, believed to be active since a year ago, offered dividends of almost RM100,000 in a month for those with an investment of at least RM3,000 each.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the company was operating using the licence of another company, he added.
