A 51-year-old taxi driver, who was earlier involved in an accident, was detained for driving under the influence of alcohol in a police operation early today.
Ipoh traffic police chief DSP Mohd Rodzi Rejab said the man was detained about 3am at Jalan Raja Nazrin Shah here.
The taxi driver, who was slightly injured, was detained for questioning and later released on police bail, he added.
Rodzi said 51 motorists were issued summonses for various traffic offences during the five-hour operation, involving Jalan Kuala Kangsar, Jalan Silibin, Jalan Jelapang and Jalan Raja Musa Aziz, which ended at 5am today.
