One more nursery in Putrajaya closed

Another nursery in Putrajaya has been ordered closed by Welfare Services Department (JKM) after a baby died on Tuesday.

Muhammad Firdaus Hakim Faizal Hafiz died after a fall at a flat in Presint 14 while under the care of a babysitter.

JKM director-general Datuk Meme Zainal Rashid said the nursery had contravened the Child Nursery Act (Amend) 2007 for taking care of more than the permitted number.

“Police are investigating the death of Muhammad Firdaus Hakim. Nurseries can only operate after they are registered with JKM,” she said in a statement today.

Two nurseries in Putrajaya were ordered closed after the death of Nur Amierah Mohd Shahrul Niezam and Farisha Nur Hazreen Mohd Fairuz.

Meme Zainal said nurseries and childcare centres taking care of more than three children should register with JKM as provided by the Act.

“JKM hopes that parents sending their children to nurseries and childcare  centres with more than three children to inform JKM so that monitoring can be done,” he added.
