From green land to waste land

As one drive along the Penang coastal highway, towards Bayan Lepas, one cannot help, but notice piles and piles of construction waste dumps.
A visit to the site along the highway, at Lebuhraya Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu, showed signs of continuous dumping of rubbish.  Construction debris can be seen, rampantly scattered everywhere, and bull-dozed into the swarmpy sea.
The surrounding trees are indiscreetly uprooted in the process.
This have negative impact on the eco-system of the area.
This used to be a patch of lush green land, where goats feed and graze happily.  It has now become, a stoney barren wasteland, devoid of grass and green vegetation.
This is the work of some irresponsible contractors, who find it convenient to dispose off their construction wastes, here.  The culprits continue to flout the law and get away scot-free.
But why isn’t the Authorities doing something about this. Their indifferent attitude, left much to be desired. It’s time the authorities pull their act together and get tough with these unscrupulous contractors before Penang’s shore line is defaced and destroyed by pollution.
