China Cultural Festival

 

The Penang State Tourism, Development and Culture dept, recently organised a “China Cultural Festival” at the Esplanade. 
This objective is to foster better ties and bi-lateral relations with China especially in the tourism industry.  
This is the first ever China cultural festive to be held in Penang and according to Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng, it may grow to become another annual signature event in the state, in the like of the ever successful Bon Odori festival which attracted a record high of  more  than 70, 000 last July.
In his opening speech, CM Lim Guan Eng have much praises for Penang. He quoted international recognition, eg “Bloomberg”, the economist news site,  commented favourably on Penang’s economic performance.  “Lonely Planet”, a travel magazine puts Penang’s Cheong Sze Fatt mansion as top 2 greatest mansions and grandhouses in the world.  Even Penang assam laksa is ranked 7th most delicious food in the world.
The CM added that these are indicators that Penang is moving in the right direction.
