A fire broke out at an abandoned shop adjacent to Malaysiakini office. Before anyone could take action the fire grew wild and almost ravaged the back portion of the building.
The Malaysiakini staff who noticed the fire, took the matter into their own hands. Equipped with the few fire extinguishers available, the fire was put under control and succesfully put out in 15 minutes.
