KAAA athletic championship kicks off in Alor Setar

The 60th edition of the Kedah Amateur Athletic Association (KAAA) Open Athletic Championship, 2012,  kicked off at Darulaman Stadium, here in Alor Setar, last weekend.

The two day championship, which was organised by the KAAA, were open to athletes from contingents throughout Malaysia, as well as invitational teams from neighbouring countries.

According to is honourary secretary,  S Govindrajoo, this time around the championship  showcased more than 400 athletes from 31 teams, who took part in various events, both as a team as well as individuals.

The events comprised of the 100m sprint, 4x100m rally,110m hurdles, 200m, 400m, 400m hurdles, 4x400m rally, 800m, 1,500m, 3,000m,  5,000m walk, 5,000m steeplechase, 10,000m, 10,000m walk,  high jump, long jump, triple jump, discus, javelin and shot putt.

Citizen Journalist Malaysia (CJMY) was there to capture the excitement and the energy of the games.
