Recipients of financial aid from the Welfare Department (JKM) are eligible to apply for the RM500 Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M).
Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Jalil said the group includes men and women who are heads of household and the elderly who live alone.
“JKM has taken proactive action by submitting the monthly list of recipients to the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) for consideration,” she said in a statement yesterday.
The RM500 aid under BR1M programme is aimed at helping household with gross monthly income of less RM3,000 to reduce their burden as announced by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak when tabling 2012 Budget in Oct.
BR1M application forms were distributed free from Saturday at all LHDN branches and service centres, Information Department, Federal Development Department, government agencies and the main lobby of Finance Ministry in Putrajaya and selected schools.
