Some RM30.7 million has been allocated by Tabung Penyelenggaraan 1Malaysia (TP-1Malaysia) to help maintain and refurbish private low and medium cost flats in the city .

Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said TP-1Malaysia’s management and coordination committee had approved 51 applications from Joint Management Bodies (JMBs) for the purpose.

Thirty-four low-cost and 17 medium-cost flats would benefit from the move, he told reporters after launching a repainting project at the Taman Mulia flats yesterday.

“Besides repainting jobs, maintenance work would also be carried out on lifts, grilles, corridors besides rubbish chutes and other areas that need attention,” he said.

Raja Nong Chik said his ministry received a total of 71 applications for the funding since TP-1Malaysia was launched by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in January last year.
