Johoreans celebrate patriotism with 100,000 ‘Jalur Gemilang’

Thousands thronged Dataran Tanjung Emas, Bandar Maharani Bandar DiRaja to be part of Program Kibar Jalur Gemilang held in conjunction with Johor State level Medeka day celebrations 2012 yesterday.

The colouful event was officiated by Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein.

He reminded all Johorians that Malaysia turns 55 on August 31st 2012.

This is a time for all Malaysian irrespective of race, religion,culture and ideology to come together and show their love and patriotism.

“Patroitism should exude naturally without force because there is nothing more valuable then to experience this independence in an atmosphere of peace and harmony, without any disturbances,” he added.

550 youth carrying the Jalur Gemilang ran into Dataran Tanjung Emas to the cheers of about 5000 people in the spirit of 1Malaysia.

Organising chairperson for the event M Asogan said that the Johor Government has distributed over 100,000 ‘Jalur Gemilang’ and hopes that every Business and residential premise express their patriotism by displaying the flag.
