World War II bomb found in Kuala Langat foundry

A foundry worker in Olak Lempit, was shocked yesterday when a rocket-shaped object  found among a pile of scrap metal was actually on old bomb used during World War II.

Kuala Langat police chief Supt Nordin Manan said members of the bomb disposal unit rushed to the foundry after receiving a report from the man, and found the bomb believed to be used for bombardment from a plane during the war.

He said the bomb which was 1.06m high and 0.6m in width was destroyed with the assistance of the bomb disposal unit from the Selangor police contingent headquarters at about 1.40pm.

He praised the factory management for informing the police immediately about the bomb discovery.

“Members of the public who find similar objects or what they believe to be old bombs should contact the nearest police station, and not act on their own,” said Nordin.
