Greencow residents fail to submit memo to police

An unidentified policeman told the villagers that his superiors were not present to receive the memorandum.

The residents of Greencow, Kampung Sungai Palas, Cameron Highland, yesterday tried to submit a memorandum to officials in Bukit Aman over the arrest of two villagers and an activist last week.

Two villagers, brothers S Nagarajan, 34, and S Thanabalan, 35 and an activist, Suresh Kumar, of Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) were arrested by the Brinchang IPD police last week in connection with a protest against a hillside development project.

The 15 residents, assisted by Sungai Siput MP, Dr Michael D Jeyakumar tried to meet police officials at Bukit Aman to no avail.

An unidentified policeman told the villagers that his superiors were not present to receive the memorandum.

The villagers left the police headquarters some 30 minutes later.
