An eight-year-old girl was killed in an accident involving two vehicles at KM201.3 of the south bound North-South Expressway yesterday.
Alor Gajah district police chief Supt Umar Ali Saifuddin Shaharudin said Afiqah Batrisyia Abdul Rahman, who sustained serious head injury, died at the scene in the 5pm crash.
He said the accident occurred when a Porsche, believed to be travelling at high-speed, crashed into the rear of the Toyota Unser which Afiqah Batrisyia’s father was driving.
“The impact caused the girl to be flung out of the vehicle, while three other people travelling in the MPV sustained minor injuries,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
He said the driver of the Porsche, in his 30s, was slightly injured.
Afiqah Batrisyia’s body was sent to the Melaka Hospital. Her injured family members were also sent to the same hospital for treatment.
