Peace at home advocacy

JOHOR BAHRU – This event was held in conjunction with the 16 days of Activism on Gender Based Violence themed “From Peace in the Home to Peace in the World.”

A consultative meeting on advocacy and strengthening capacity for NGOs on domestic violence jointly organised by Reproductive Health Associatation of Kelantan (REHAK) and the Women’s Development Research Centre (KANITA), USM.

This event was funded by United Nation Population Fund (UNFPA), Malaysia under its one off grant project.

This event was held in conjunction with the 16 days of Activism on Gender Based Violence themed “From Peace in the Home to Peace in the World.”

The event focused on five primary objectives:

First, to share the research findings on intimate partner violence (IPV) and its implications and relevance to the NGOs.

Second, to plan for the national seminar and policy roundtable on Violence against Women (VAW) in 2013.

Third, to strengthen the local network around violence against women through sharing of knowledge and skills with established NGOs.

Fourth, to establish a link between local state level NGOs, established NGOs and KANITA as a research centre.

And lastly is to demonstrate solidarity of women globally organizing against VAW.
