The Malaysian Bar welcomes and congratulates Arifin Zakaria on his appointment as the new Chief Justice of the Federal Court.
The Malaysian Bar congratulates Arifin Zakaria, Md Raus Sharif and Zulkefli Ahmad Makinudin on their respective appointments as Chief Justice of the Federal Court, President of the Court of Appeal and Chief Judge of Malaya, effective on 12 September 2011.
Arifin Zakaria’s judicial qualities, reputation, seniority and experience make him eminently suited for this important position. The Malaysian Bar expects that under the judicial leadership of Arifin Zakaria, Malaysia’s commitment to the values enshrined in the Federal Constitution, as well as the cause of justice and the rule of law, will be strengthened.
The Malaysian Bar expresses its support and cooperation to the new Chief Justice as he embarks on this vital journey.
The Malaysian Bar is confident that, with these three appointments, the agenda for reform of the Judiciary undertaken by Zaki Azmi will continue in the interests of the nation.
We are hopeful that there will be more appointments and promotions of Judges from the Bar, which will add to the current depth and breadth of the Judiciary.
The Malaysian Bar looks forward to working with Arifin Zakaria, Md Raus Sharif and Zulkefli Ahmad Makinudin in their new capacities.
