Firefighters call off search for Klang River jumper, fear hoax

Firefighters have called off a search and rescue operation for a woman, who was said to have jumped into Sungai Klang
beside the Central Marke, fearing it was a hoax.

A spokesman from the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said fire-fighters tried in vain for 12 hours to trace the victim to a distance of 10km downstream to Brickfields after being alerted about the incident at 11.48pm last night.

He said, however, the search and rescue operation would resume if the department received new leads on the said victim.

Eyewitnesses can contact the department at 03-22741216.
