A tour guide was sent to the gallows after he was found guilty of trafficking in 895.08 grams of cannabis about a year ago.

Judicial Commissioner Mariana Yahya handed down the sentence to Lokman Borhan, 54, after finding that the defence failed to raise any reasonable doubts in the prosecution’s case.

Lokman was charged with committing the offence at a house number 11, Lorong Kubang Buaya 47, Taman Kubang Buaya 3 here at 9.20pm on Aug 7, 2010.

Drug trafficking is a capital offence in the country.

The accused was also sentenced to four years jail from the date of his arrest on a second count of possessing five plastic packets which contained drugs believed to be cannabis weighing 22.39 grams at the same place and time.

Nine prosecuting witnesses and two defence witnesses were called during the trial.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Fadli Mahmud prosecuted while the accused was represented by counsel Datuk Mohamad Shariff Abu Samah.
