JOHOR BAHRU – Thirty participants from eight organizations attended a 2-day workshop ‘Handling Domestic Violence for Service Providers’, organized by Johor Women’s League (JEWEL) and Women’s Centre for Change (WCC)

Thirty participants from eight organizations attended a 2-day workshop ‘Handling Domestic Violence for Service Providers’, organized by Johor Women’s League (JEWEL) and Women’s Centre for Change (WCC) recently in Johor Bahru.
TheĀ eight organisations represented were Johor Women’s League (Jewel), Befrienders Johor Bahru, Migrant Ministry, Wanita MIC Pulai Division, Johor Indian Business Association, Sentuhan Kasih, Lions Club of JB Metro, Persatuan Kebajikan Sinar Sofia and Sri Mahavishnu Fine Arts Society.
The topics covered in this workshop were Gender & Violence against Women, Understanding Domestic Violence, Victim Advocacy, Agency Help, Protection under the Domestic Violence Act and Working with Agencies.
The facilitators were programme consultant Dr Prema Devaraj and advocacy officer Melissa Mohd Akhir from the Women’s Centre for Change (WCC) Penang.
