Filipina maid caught transporting ganja from Thailand

The Narcotics Branch of the Customs Head Office detained a 36-year-old Filipina maid and seized 16 slabs of ganja worth RM40,000 at the Jalan Duta bus terminal in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Its deputy director Liah Omar said the woman who was working in Bangkok, was detained at 4.50pm while carrying her luggage after arriving in an express bus from Changloon.

“Inspection on the luggage led to the finding of the drugs hidden underneath the clothes,” he told reporters at the branch’s office, in Kampung Jijan, today.

Liah said based on her travel documents, the suspect arrived from Thailand on Sunday and boarded the express bus at Changloon early yesterday.

He added that the drugs were meant for the local market.
