Durian runtuh in China this July

PUTRAJAYA – The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) will be shipping the first consignment of Malaysian durians to China in July, said Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Noh Omar. He said the shipment comprised of four containers of frozen durians, worth RM1mil, and that thereafter the ‘King of Fruits’ from Perak, Johor and Pahang would be exported to China on a weekly basis.

The Chinese government has also approved a Malaysian fruits expo in Beijing, which will be a good opportunity to introduce other varieties such as the ‘dragon fruit’, he told reporters, after launching a seminar on Market Driven Agro-Food Industry here yesterday.

Prior to this, China had been importing mangosteens and rambutans from Malaysia and South Korea.
