A policeman from the Pantai police station was killed today in an accident on the Federal Highway near the Employees Provident Fund building.

Lance Corporal Mohd Faris Razali, 22, was riding a Yamaha motorcycle when he was involved in a collision with a Honda Accord car driven by Wong Chin Wai, 36, said Selangor Traffic and Public Order chief Supt Zulkifli Jonit.

He said in a text message to reporters that Wong was driving from the direction of the Universiti Malaysia Medical Centre (UMMC) to Jalan Gasing when the accident occurred at the traffic light junction in front of the EPF building. Faris, who was badly injured, was admitted to the UMMC and died at about 2.30am, he said.

The policeman’s father, Razali, 57, said Faris had just come off duty at the Wesak Day procession in Brickfields and was on his way back to his policequarters in Taman Tun Dr Ismail.  Faris joined the police force three years ago right after Sijil PelajaranMalaysia (SPM), he said.
