The Bukit Tengkorak Archaeological Heritage Site Museum in Semporna, Sabah, is expected to open to the public in the middle of July this year, said Sabah East Coast Museums curator Juanis Ogak.

Juanis said preparation of the exhibit is being carried out with the cooperation of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and the National Heritage Department.

“The Bukit Tengkorak Archaeological Heritage Site Museum is among the most important archaeological sites not only in Semporna but also in the country. It will become a landmark for Semporna,” he said.

According to Juanis, the museum would hopefully become a valuable product for Semporna, in addition to its islands which are world-class diving locations.

He said the archaeological site currently attracted about 9,000 visitors each year.
