Library for Orang Asli Children

Library for Orang Asli Children

For some, it is unimaginable to grow up without books as their companions. But for some children in rural parts of the country, books are considered luxury! Understanding those children’s plight of limited access to libraries at schools especially during weekends, two NGOs in a joint effort set up a library in a orang asli (indigenous) village in Kahang, Kluang Johor.

The organizations — Satya Sai Council of Johor and Mari Kita Membaca Group joint their hands together to conduct a “gotong royong” to turn a rundown building into a library. Adun for Kahang, YB Vidyanandhan, who visited the village, congratulated both NGOs for their noble act to serve the under privileged children in the village. Citizen journalists, Saminathan Munisamy and Vijay Kumar Rahman covered the event.
