Miri City Council (MCC) plans to set up computerised bill payment kiosks at several strategic places here, said Miri
Mayor Lawrence Lai today.

He said the creation of such kiosks would help overcome congestion faced at the only one-stop service centre that the council currently operates at its building that is utilised by the public for paying overdue parking fees or other
council services.

Speaking to reporters after receiving a courtesy call by a group of Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) officers led by Kuching Mayor Mohd Atei Abang Medaan at his office here, he said MCC would be working on the details once the plan
received the nod from the Sarawak Environment and Public Health Ministry.

“We have already submitted a proposal on the plan to the ministry and we are expecting a response soon,” he said.

He said DBKU had already set up such payment kiosks since 10 years ago within its jurisdiction and that they had proven to be efficient.
