Ismazi@Megat Ismazi Ismail, 48, is charged with placing his hands on the breasts of the students concerned at the teachers disciplinary room of the school between 7.30am and 8.30am on Feb 25.

He has been charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code which provides for jail up to 10 yeras or fine or whipping or any of the two, if convicted.

When the 11 counts of the charge were read out to him by a court interpreter, his wife who was seated behind the dock, was seen covering her face with her hands and had be pacified by a female friend.

Deputy Public Prosecutor, Jaizah Jaafar Sidek, urged the court to set bail at RM1,500 for each of the counts but counsel Amir Asree Meor Nordin, who represented the accused, argued that the amount was too high and suggested RM800 per count.

Amir said that, furthermore, the accused was the sole breadwinner of his family and had to support a wife and four children.

“Also since news of his arrest on Feb 25 has spread far and wide, his reputation and dignity as a civil servant and teacher for 23 years is smeared.

“His colleagues are present in court today to give him moral support,” added the counsel.

Magistrate Azaraorni Abd Rahman set bail at RM11,000 for all the counts and March 25 for re-mention.

The accused’s wife posted bail.
