Police detained two Iranians for trying to smuggle 27.8 kilogrammes of syabu worth RM5.6 million into this country through the Bayan Lepas International Airport, yesterday.
Bukit Aman Narcotics CID chief Noor Rashid Ibrahim said the two suspects aged around 30, were arrested at about 7.40pm while trying to hide the drug inside a food box in their luggage bag.
He said police were trying to establish the final destination of the drug. Both men are being remanded until May 24 to facilitate the police investigation under Section 39B of Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty upon conviction.
