Teen dies over fight of TV remote control

However, an elder family member, angry with his not compromising in the matter ticked him off over it but a fight ensued between them instead.

A teenager paid with his life all because of a fight over the TV remote control.

Pahang deputy CID chief Supt Mohd Haris Daud said in the 4.30pm incident yesterday in Taman Balok Baru here, Naili Nafiz Zakaria, 14, a student of Maahad Tahfiz Batu 4, had been involved in a quarrel with a younger family member because each had wanted to watch their preferred programme.

However,  an elder family member, angry with his not compromising in the matter ticked him off over it but a fight ensued between them instead.

“The scuffle dragged on to outside of their home where the elder girl picked up a piece of broken glass window pane lying on the ground and pointed it at the victim in a menacing manner.

“Unfortunately, in the melee it came off her hand and gashed the victim’s right thigh which led to profuse bleeding,” he told reporters here Friday.

He said the victim was rushed to a nearby clinic by a neighbour but succumbed to the injury at 5.40pm while receiving treatment.

He added that the elder members of the family were not at home when the incident happened.

The victim’s body was sent to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan for a post-mortem before being claimed by the family at 11.30pm.
