Datuk Ewon Benedick, Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (MECD), praised the team’s exceptional performance in providing innovative solutions to real-life problems through their mobile application called “FinCare.”

The competition not only demonstrates the power of no-code rapid mobile app development (RMAD) but also highlights the potential of digital transformation in strengthening Malaysia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

To bridge the digital divide faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia, Wilstech Sdn. Bhd., a homegrown IT solutions provider, launched eMOBIQ® and the eMOBIQ® Challenge 2023.

The platform aims to empower Malaysians to adopt cost-effective and innovative digital solutions, even without prior coding experience. Among 127 teams from 24 local universities, Team Universiti Putra Malaysia emerged as the standout winner of the eMOBIQ® Challenge 2023. Their mobile application, “FinCare,” tackles the crucial issues of financial literacy and management for children.

Recognizing the financial knowledge gap and the popularity of e-wallets in Malaysia, the team developed FinCare to allow parents to monitor their children’s expenses, set spending limits, and provide interactive financial education.

As the competition’s champion, Team Universiti Putra Malaysia will collaborate with the RMAD platform to enhance FinCare with gamification elements and engaging financial education content.

The competition’s success was made possible through the collaboration of various ministries, organizations, and associations, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in driving innovation and growth in Malaysia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
