An elderly couple was found murdered in their home in Kampung Gemeti, early today.
Pahang CID chief SAC T. Narenasegaran said the body of a 71-year-old contractor, Mohammad Yusof Abdul Rashid Samang, was found sprawled near the door of the toilet in their room with stab wounds in his chest and stomach.
His wife Timah Fatimah Pachu, 68, was found on the floor next to their bed with a gaping wound in her neck.
“The victims were found in the master bedroom of the two-storey house,” he told reporters.
He added that police received a report from the victims’ neighbours at about 1.30am, informing about loud noise and screams coming from the victims’ house.
“Police found a hoe in the room believed to be the weapon used in the attack,” he said, adding that police were also looking for a sharp weapon believed to have been used in the stabbing one of the victims.
“There are no signs of forced entry. A gun, which had belonged to the couple, had not been taken. Police believe that the attacker or attackers were known to the victims,” he said.
Initial investigation found that robbery was not the motive because their valuables were still in the house, he said.
Their bodies had been sent to the Bentong Hospital for post-mortem.
