A divorced mother of two was viciously stabbed to death at a petrol station in Jalan Perusahaan Bukit Tengah today, in what the police suspect to have been fueled by jealousy.
Karimah Jusuh, 25, a cashier, sustained wounds in the abdomen, neck, chest and hands inside a changing room near the petrol station after she had reported for work at 7am.
Her fiance, who was spotted leaving the room about an hour later, returned to a house in Mengkuang Mak Sulong, only to allegedly ingest poison.
The 35-year-old, who works at a factory in Perai, is said to be fighting for his life at the Seberang Jaya Hospital (HSJ).
Initial police investigations revealed that the deceased’s “friendly disposition” towards a male colleage might have been a factor which led to her senseless killing.
Penang police deputy chief Abdul Rahim Jaafar said the fiance was detained to facilitate investigations into the murder.
He said a female colleague stumbled on Karimah’s body at the changing room after she spotted the fiance leaving the room.
He said the colleague called the police who seized a blood-stained knife, believed to have been used in the attack, in the changing room.
“The victim was stabbed several times in the abdomen, neck, chest and hands, an attack believed to have been motivated by jealousy,” he said.
Meanwhile, Karimah’s adoptive mother, Aisyah Mohd, 62, said the victim divorced last year and had two children aged three and five.
She said the deceased lived with her in Putra Villa in Bertam and was engaged several months ago.
