Sungai Pulai, Pontian: An economic hub

RM975,969 has been allocated for project development in the district for this year by the Ministry of Local Government.

 

Sungei Pulai, Pontian is all set to be transformed into a major economic hub where some one thousand two hundred hectares of land has been earmarked for various industries development.

The land runs along the Sungei Pulai area is strategically located for development due to close proximity with the fast developing Iskandar region, said the president of the Pontian district local council, Mohamad Karim.

He said, investors are now eyeing Sungei Pulai area as a potential site for investment opportunities.

The District Local Plan 2020 will see some major changes as the earlier plan was gazetted three ago ago, he added.

Mohamad Karim said the District Local Plan 2020 is currently on public display at the Pontian district office and its branch offices in Pekan Nenas, Benut and Permas Kecil till May 18.

The Plan will be used as a reference by the district office and other government agencies for all future developments in the district.

Many long standing problems affecting the private sectors will be resolved with the implementation of the plan.

All existing factories that are not located within the specified zone will be reorganised in line with the current and future development needs, Mohdamad Kasim was speaking at a press conference after chairing the district fourth full council meeting here.

He also annouced that some RM975,969 has been allocated for project development in the district for this year by the Ministry of Local Government.

Speaking on another matter, he said that the car park summonses compound will be reduced depending on the promptness of offenders settling the compound.

For the usual RM30 compound, it will now be reduced to RM5 subject to if the compound is paid within  twenty-four hours.

A hefty fifty percent will be given for all parking summonses compound if the compound is paid within fourteen days from date of issuance.

The same discount will also be given to all current outstanding compounds, said Mohamad Karim.
