Police have set up a special team to probe acid attacks in Bangsar and Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad here recently.
Brickfields police chief ACP Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said they have yet to determine whether the same suspects are involved in the two incidents.
He said no arrests had been made so far as no evidence and eye witnesses had come forward to give information.
“I’m sure someone must have seen the incidents as they occured in public places. The victims are of no help as they are still traumatised,” he told reporters here today.
On March 24, marketing executive Ruhainah Husin,30, suffered burns on the face after she was splashed with hazardous liquid in front of a restaurant in Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Bangsar.
The next day, a teacher was also splashed with hazardous liquid by two male motorcyclists outside a school near Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad.
Asked whether the two incidents were committed by the same people, Wan Abdul Bari said: “It can’t be confirmed because the victims and locations are different while motive is unknown.”
He said this year alone ten acid attacks were reported in Klang Valley of which two occured in Brickfields. Patrolling had been stepped up while suspicious characters should be reported to Brickfields police at tel no 03-90516222 or 03-90571086.
