The public relations students of University Tunku Abdul Rahman Kampar (UTAR) are organizing campaigns, on-campus and in Tronoh Mines New Village, Perak.
This campaign which involves the year three public relations, trimester one students will encompass on campus activities and an outreach activity.
The project, which is organized through the compulsory public relations planning and management, is aimed to develop campaign organizing skills among its students.
The students have divided into 3 different groups to organize activities in three different aspects; health, environment and education.
The on-campus activities, which started on March 14, will feature mural design competition, D.I.Y (Do It Yourself) workshop and blogging competition. These activities will end on April 8.
The group which has been tasked to organize the environment aspect is currently having their booths in Block C, D and H to promote and attract more students to join in their activities.
Meanwhile, the outreach activities in Tronoh Mines New Village have been slated to begin on April 9. The environment group will have to clean up the village, repaint the community hall and clean up the market using Effective Microorganism (EM) solution as part of their outreach activity.
The environment group campaign director, Chew Lip Wei hope there will be an increase of volunteers in the university and the students will be exposed to the sense of volunteerism by end of the campaign.
“There will be around 300 targeted students for both on-campus and outreach activities in Tronoh Mines,” said Chew when asked about the amount of student targeted for this campaign.
The D.I.Y workshop aims to create souvenirs for the Tronoh Mines villagers
“There will be four sessions of D.I.Y workshops-s creating learning material for primary students, building shoe racks, writing Chinese proverbs and making clothes hanger for the
Villagers,” said Chew referring to the activities outlined for the students who volunteers themselves.
This volunteerism campaign will provide an avenue for the UTAR students to support the people in need.
