“The Gemas-Johor Baharu sector’s design is currently undertaken by a consultant company and once ready, the package will be offered for tender,” he told reporters after visiting the marine via duct in Bukit Merah here today.
On Jan 28, 2011, Kong had stated that the Gemas-Johor Baharu double tracking project worth RM7 billion was expected to start this year, once discussions for the final phase of the North-South train service was completed.
The project cost for the Gemas-Johor Bahru is expected to cost RM7 billion because it does not only comprise the building of a double tracking system but also a transport hub with a capacity to rival the (MRT) in Singapore.
