Sarawak elections: RM252.85 million for projects in Serian and Tebedu

The projects to be implemented included the rural water supply project in Tebedu costing RM105 million which would supply clean water to 2,910 homes in the area, and RM116.5 million for Serian to supply clean water to 4,409 homes, he said.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today announced an allocation of RM252.85 million for various public projects in the Serian and Tebedu areas.

The projects to be implemented included the rural water supply project in Tebedu costing RM105 million which would supply clean water to 2,910 homes in the area, and RM116.5 million for Serian to supply clean water to 4,409 homes, he said.

Meanwhile, RM13.39 million had been allocated for rural electricity supply in Serian for 408 homes, besides the RM12.5 million allocated for health clinics in Pedawan and RM120,000 for the purchase of an air conditioner for the Serian Community Hall.

He announced the allocations when launching the programme ‘Sejiwa Senada’ for the Kota Samarahan division aimed at bringing the people closer to the civil servants.

Meanwhile, Najib’s visit together with his deputy, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, and several other cabinet ministers to Serian was the beginning of a programme of visits by national leaders to get closer to the people, which was expected to end in September

Najib, who wore a traditional Bidayuh attire when delivering his speech, also inserted a few words in Bidayuh language, namely “aku ira nyugon ahi terimakasih” which means “I wish to say thank you to all of you”, which received loud applause from the crowd.

Besides Muhyiddin, others who were present included Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his two deputies, Tan Sri Dr George Chan and Tan Sri Alfred Jabu.  Meanwhile in his speech, Abdul Taib also announced an allocation of RM90million for road projects in Serian.
