Children With Disabilities Show Their Talent In Art Competition

PETALING JAYA – More than 100 children and young adults with disabilities accompanied by their parents and teachers were given an opportunity to showcase their artistic talent at the 5th “Rainbow in My Heart” Art Competition 2016

Children and young adults with disabilities accompanied by their parents and teachers at the 5th Rainbow in My Heart Art Competition 2016.

More than 100 children and young adults with disabilities accompanied by their parents and teachers were given an opportunity to showcase their artistic talent at the 5th “Rainbow in My Heart” Art Competition 2016 at Jaya 33 Cybercentre, Petaling Jaya on Dec 3.

Participants were special needs people with learning and cognitive disabilities such as autistics, dyslexia, Apert syndrome, Down’s syndrome, global development delay (GDD) and slow learners.

The event saw enthusiastic participation in the young artists producing beautiful masterpieces on the given theme “Humanity with Colours and Visions.”

Organised by The Rotary Club of Bandar Utama (RCBU), the event was open to children below 15 years old (Group A) and young adults above 15 years old (Group B).

RCBU president Victor Lim Len Kee said the art competition was to create public awareness on the latent talents and artistic abilities of these special needs people.

“We are excited to hold this annual event to recognize the artistic and creative abilities of these young artists in expressing themselves by making such beautiful pieces of artworks,” he said.

At the end of two hours all the paintings were submitted for judging by a panel of judges who included Winston Leong, Leong Keng Hoong and Filipino artist, entrepreneur and Rotarian Karina Jardin.

While waiting for the results, SEGI and HELP University Rotaractors, and Renee & King Tech provided the entertainment.

All the participants received a goody bag and certificate of participation. The sponsors and contributors also received certificates of appreciation.

The winners for category A and B were given certificates and prizes during the closing ceremony of the event.
