Klang River already being rehabilitated by Selangor government

Selangor MB, Khalid Ibrahim is seeking a clarification from Prime Minister, Najib Razak on the ‘River of Life’ project that involves the rehabilitation of Klang river under the Economic Transformation Programme.

Selangor Menteri Besar,  Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is said to have written a letter to Prime Minister, Najib Tun Razak, seeking clarification on the ‘River of Life’ project that involves the rehabilitation of Klang river under the Economic Transformation Programme.

Abdul Khalid said in a statement that the letter was sent to PM yesterday.

The Selangor Menteri Besar had in the letter explained that Selangor had started cleaning the Klang river one year ago before the ‘River of Life’ that is divided into three segments – clean, beautify, develop was announced by the government.

He said the Selangor government had also short-listed three companies to undertake the cleaning job. As such, he urged the Prime Minister to have a meeting with the three companies to know the type of technology they would be proposing.

The ‘River of Life’ project is estimated to cost between RM8 to RM10 billion while Phase 1 is expected to cost RM1 to RM2 billion.
