Singer cum songwriter, Yusuf Islam is collaborating with Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) for the production of a music video for his latest song entitled “My People”.
He said, the song that was written after the people’s uprising in Egypt was symbolic for those seeking basic freedom and human rights in a non-violent way.
“The chorus of the song was sung by hundreds of people from around theworld, including from Malaysia. Now we are producing a video on what is happening in Kuala Lumpur and I hope it will be available by end of this week,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby here today.
Yusuf or formerly known as Cat Stevens who arrived here Saturday upon the invitation of Zulkifli Nordin (Independent-Kulim Bandar Baharu) received a warm welcome from Members of Parliament, when he visited the Parliament House today.
Yusuf said the music video which would have animation features was in its final stage and would be completed by end of the week.
He also said that while here, he would hold discussions with the Education Ministry officials and relate his experience in delivering education in Muslim schools in the United Kingdom.
“Our experience is actually very useful because we live in a multicultural society and therefore, the syllabus that we designed is very positive towards bringing up children with moral and good education,” he said.
The syllabus, he said catered for children until the age of 12, integrates general knowledge with basic moral foundation which is suitable for all, not just for Islamic schools.
