Perak state assemblyman for Teja Chang Lih Kang lost cash, jewellery, cash and personal items amounting to RM10,000 after his house in Taman Melor here was broken into last night.
Chang and his family came back from dinner to find the front door broken, and RM800, jewellery, a watch and a handbag missing.
He said this was the second time the house had been broken into. The first time was in November last year when burglars took RM4,500.
In another incident, the wife of a chicken trader was robbed today by two men armed with a machete of jewellery and cash amounting to more than RM25,000 in her house in Kampung Tersusun Tambahan, Kopisan Baru, Gopeng.
Kampar police chief Supt Abdul Aziz Salleh said the housewife was with her child when the robbers entered the house at about 7am after her husband had gone to the market where he had a stall.
He said the robbers, in their 30s, tied up mother and child and warned them not to raise the alarm before escaping on a motorcycle.
